Forty Days
The 40 days of Lent recalls the 40 days Jesus spend fasting in the wilderness at the beginning of His ministry. You could also have cited that rain fell for 40 days and nights at the time of the flood or the 40 years that Israel wandered in the desert with moses before they were allowed to enter the promised land of Canaan.
